Flatiron Via Siphon Draw Trail is a heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Apache Junction, Arizona. It is a popular hike in the Superstition Wilderness that is both challenging and rewarding. It is one of the hardest hikes in Arizona and the indomitable mountain really tests your endurance.
The Siphon Draw trail to the Flatiron in the Superstition Mountains is a challenging hike. It goes straight up. Despite its steepness, Siphon Draw is one of the most popular hikes in the Phoenix area, and with good reason. The very steep and rocky terrain lure the hikers from around the country to take up the challenge!
The view from the Flatiron toward the Valley of the Sun is absolutely awesome. Some prefer to camp over night and watch the city lights from the top. The trail is well maintained and easy to find up to Sliderock Basin. Above that, it’s marked with white dots and arrows painted on rock surfaces. The last bit of trail below the Flatiron requires a little hand-and-foot scrambling and we used the tree on the left to do the vertical climb up.
