📍The Belly of the Dragon, UT

Utah Hiking Trails – Less than 0.5 miles but you can go up to the slot canyon for about 4 miles if the weather is good and you have time to spare.

It is a man-made sandstone drainage tunnel located at south end of Mount Carmel Junction, Utah. A short hike through the tunnel is a little adventurous and interesting hike. Please use the flashlight as it gets really dark in there and the trail is full of rocks and sands.

The tunnel goes under Highway 89 and is used as a drainage for the upper canyons that feed into the North Fork River. Therefore, do not enter into the tunnel under any rainy conditions. You can continue through the wash for about 4 miles and it ends at a beautiful little slot canyon. Please always check the weather for rains as it gets really risky when you get caught in the downstream.

Happy Exploring Utah!
