Norway in a nutshell Tour from Oslo to Bergen:
This legendary tour takes you through Norway’s most breathtaking UNESCO-protected fjord and mountain scenery, as well as a trip on Europe’s top scenic rail journeys. The Norway in a nutshell® tour from Oslo can be taken as a round trip with return to Oslo, or as a one-way trip from Oslo to Bergen. The trip runs all year and takes you through some of Norway’s most beautiful fjord scenery. We can customize our own tour to include overnight stays and activities before, after or along the route! We planned as a one day trip from Oslo to Bergen!

Gol, a small village

Starting from Oslo, we first set out on a westbound train journey through scenic mountain terrain on the Bergen Railway. There is something for Star Wars fans. We will go through “Finse” a mountain village area on the shore of the Lake Finsevatnet which was the setting for the ice planet ‘Hoth ‘ in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back. Don’t miss it… 😘

Upon arrival in Myrdal, we disembarked and changed trains to the legendary Flåm Railway. The Flåm Railway offers spectacular panoramic views to some of the wildest and most magnificent nature in the Norwegian fjord landscape. The highlight of Flåm Railway is when it stops at Kjosfossen waterfall for a few minutes. We get to witness a Norwegian dancer performing as a Huldra, a seductive forest spirit singing & dancing and luring the men into the forest.

On reaching Flåm, we explored the small village in southwestern Norway, in an area known for its fjords. It sits at the end of Aurlandsfjord, a branch of the vast Sognefjord. The dramatic Stegastein viewing platform juts out high above the Aurlandsfjord. South of Flåm Harbor, the 17th-century wooden Flåm Church lies in the valley. The Flåm Railway offers valley and waterfall views as it climbs to a station on the Hardangervidda plateau.

Beautiful Flåm

From Flåm we continued our journey on an Emission Free Electric Catamaran cruise on the magnificent Aurlandsfjord and on the and dramatic and narrow Nærøyfjord.

The Aurlandsfjord is a picturesque fjord that offers stunning views, while the Nærøyfjord is a dramatic fjord surrounded by high mountains. Nærøyfjorden is one of the most narrow fjords in Europe and included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

Nærøyfjorden

After our fjord cruise we arrived at Gudvangen, a small village nestled in the innermost part of Nærøyfjorden. From there the journey continued with a bus trip through Nærøydalen, with its charming villages and scenic nature landscape. From May-September the bus travels down the steep hairpin bends of Stalheimskleiva and we can see the 126-metre tall horsetail drop of the waterfalls “Stalheimfossen”. The bus stops on the curve for a few minutes for the passengers to grab their cameras for a photo or video.

Upon arrival at Voss, we walked from the bus stop to the railway station and boarded the Bergen Railway to Bergen. There are several different ways of completing this tour, both as a round trip or as a one-way trip.
