The New Wave in Page, AZ, is an underrated gem! An easy and well marked 1.25 mile hike around a clutch of sandstone buttes and knobs makes it a great alternative hike to explore if you havent been lucky enough to win “The Wave Lottery” in Utah. The sloping layers known as cross stratas create a magical wave feeling here.
The trail with the layers and layers of the red smooth slick rocks is definitely worth visiting if you are near Page, Arizona. The easy trail is well marked and it is family friendly for dogs and kids. Since there is no permit required, no planning and no waiting time is needed. The best time to visit would be in the early hours but the sunset golden hours will reveal the sandstone colors and reward you with some amazing captivating pictures.
