The South Mountain Park/Preserve actually consists of three mountain ranges: the Ma Ha Tank, Gila and Guadalupe; and is one of the largest municipally operated parks in the country. It boasts over 51 miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking. Additionally, the roadways that traverse the area are a favorite amongst the bicyclists.

Dobbins Lookout, at 2,330 feet, is the highest point in the park that is available to the public. Accessed by both hiking trail and Summit Road, the Lookout is popular with the tourists, and the locals alike, who want to get an unobstructed panoramic view of the valley.

Holbert Trail to Dobbins Lookout is a 4.2 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located in South Mountain Preserves near Phoenix, Arizona. The historic Lookout Stone structure was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. Unlike most of the trails, you can drive up here for the city lights & views.
